Happy Pecker’s Foot Long Hot Dogs

Images of palm trees and tropical music surround the pleasant picnic tables of a popular restaurant in Fort Pierce, Florida. People enjoy the tasty food, but what draws many newbies to the attraction along U.S. 1 is the colorful and inviting sign that penetrates motorists.

Tourists love to pull off to the side of the road to snap photos of “Happy Pecker’s Footlong Hot Dogs,” the name of the restaurant, on a sign that features a long-beaked, grinning pelican.
